Introduction to Palestinian Crisps

Have you ever wondered about Palestinian crisps? If you consider yourself a self proclaimed crisp connoisseur or a fanatic like me, then this is the article for you.

I grew up eating Palestinian crisps, so I might be a bit biased due to the nostalgia attached to their flavors. But today, I’ve gathered a selection of crips to share my review and let you know where you can find them.

Teesty:

Arguably the best Bamba you'll ever taste, Teesty has an intense peanut flavor with a hint of sweetness. I am not a huge fan of bamba in general, but this might convert me.

Teesty is produced in Hebron. You can find it in most Arab mini-markets and supermarkets in Jerusalem and the West Bank. Occasionally, you might also spot it at stores in Jaffa, like the Kikar Jaffa Supermarket on Shivti Street.

Bambino:

Also referred to as "El-Sanafer" (the Smurfs), Bambino comes in multiple flavors, with the onion flavor being the most famous, and in my opinion, the best. Other flavors include cheese, black pepper, tomato, and peanut. Texturally, Bambino has a firmer crunch than the classic peanut bamba we’re used to.

It’s produced in Beitunia, a city near Ramallah. You can also find it in most Arab mini-markets and supermarkets in Jerusalem and the West Bank. I haven't spotted it in Jaffa, but I’ve occasionally seen it in smaller villages up north.

Rambo:

Rambo crisps have a texture similar to prawn crackers and are usually available in a basic salt flavor. Recently, they've developed a BBQ flavor, but I wasn't particularly fond of it. Like Teesty, Rambo is produced in Beitunia, and you can find it in most Arab markets in Jerusalem, as well as some stores in Jaffa.

Crispo (Crisbo):

These crisps are fun and have a satisfying crunch, especially the chicken drumstick-shaped pieces. They’re typically BBQ-flavored. They're not my absolute favorite, but I do enjoy them from time to time. I’m fairly certain I’ve seen them at the Shvitie store in Jaffa, but I am not sure. Either way, they’re available in most stores across Jerusalem and the West Bank.
